Image Guidelines
Images you upload will be used for PRINT and for WEB. Please use the following guidelines to ensure that the file you provide is suitable - inappropriate or low quality images will delay the application process, and mean more work for us and for you!
Images should be sharp and well-lit and clearly show your work. Try to take photographs of flat work straight-on, for instance, and if the work is highly reflective then try to avoid using flash photography. Bear in mind that the image you supply will be the one used to represent your work for both publications and exhibition selection, so please provide something that you feel does your work justice.
Suitable file formats: JPG, TIFF, PSD (Photoshop file), Hi-res PDF (to print A5 at 300dpi)
Unsuitable formats: GIF, BMP, DOC (an image embedded within a Microsoft Word document)
For print purposes, the image must be no smaller than 2000 pixels wide by 1400 pixels high (or 1000 pixels wide by 1400 pixels high if it is taller than it is wide). Most digital cameras are able to take photographs at least this size. Smaller images may not be displayed properly, or may be too small to print at all.
If your file is over 5Mb in size, you can attempt to reduce file size by using zip compression and uploading the zip file.
Do not send images on CD/DVD/photographic prints/memory sticks etc. If you do not have suitable images available to upload with the application, please contact help@helfagelf.co.uk.
