Welcome to the Helfa Gelf website! Packed full of information, images and clues (if you can find them), it's your guide to Helfa Gelf 2006, the first annual open studios. It's also your key to finding the Helfa Gelf buried treasure, five stunning gold rings worth over three thousand pounds!

Latest News Headlines:

Open Studios: fifty-two artists and crafts people inviting you to visit their studios. Its a fabulous opportunity to see artists and makers in action in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. See the pottery-wheel fly! Watch the paint dry! Many studios will have work for sale too.

Treasure Hunt: the Helfa Gelf hunt for beautifully hand-crafted gold jewellery secretly buried somewhere in Conwy - find and keep it if you can! The trail starts here...

In this, the first event of its kind for Conwy, we've got painters, potters, photographers, sculptors, bookbinders, basket-makers, filmmakers, jewellers, wood-carvers, illustrators, environmental artists and people who work with glass, textiles, metal, new-media and printing! There's a huge range of styles and a warm welcome for everyone at every venue.

And look out for other special events too, such as the grand opening of Tim Iliffe's Squawking Parrot installation near Llanfairfechan. Keep your eyes on the site for updates or call in to our information point at the Royal Cambrian Academy, Conwy.

This is a wonderful chance to experience the normally private world of the artist, and as these spaces were not designed for general public access please remember to treat them with respect and mind as you go. Happy hunting!
